Hello my name Zygmunt !!
My parents tried to Americanize my name and named me Zigman, but with a “ski” at the end of your surname and being raised up in the Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania area, I am not sure what they were thinking.
Wilkes-Barre was founded in 1769. The city grew rapidly in the 19th century after the discovery of nearby coal reserves and the arrival of hundreds of thousands of immigrants, mainly from Eastern Europe who provided a labor force for the local mines. My father was a coal miner in the area. My grandfather came to the United States in 1901 after immigrating from Poland. He originally settle in the Pittsburgh area, the Polish Hill region, then he moved his family to Wilkes-Barre. Both my grandfather and father were coal miners.
I retired from the corporate world in 2018. I am a Coast Guard Veteran. When me and my wife Michele was rising our family, my wife got the opportunity to travel for business. Some one had to stay home and take care of the boys, when she went off to Europe, Asia, or other parts of the United States. Now that I am retire, I am hoping to do some traveling with my wife.
I always enjoyed photography. In High School, I took a photography class and learn how to develop a roll of film. I brought my first 35mm camera when I was in the United States Coast Guard right after high school, a Konica Auto Reflex T3. Unfortunately the Coast Guard Cutter that I was on did not visit any exotic ports, unless you think Guantanamo Bay or fishery patrol off the Grand Banks as exotic. I still enjoy taking photographs. I take my camera with when I am out and about. Now I own DSLR a Nikon D7500 and use my smartphone.
I am interested in astrophotography. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy landscape photography, and taking portraits of the family at the beach, or wildlife while I am out hiking in the mountains. There is nothing like capturing the sunrise or sunset. There is something about planning and shooting the night sky under the stars. There are still many locations and places to travel to, and I will try to share my experience through this blog.

I hope you enjoy my blog.
