First weekend of the New Year

The first weekend of 2019 and it was gorgeous.  The temperature  for both days was in the mid-sixties.

Snow on ground on January 4th, 2018.

This time last year, we had 6 inches of snow, that lasted for several day. Not this weekend.  The ocean temperature is in the mid-fifties, which is warm for this time of year.  I used my Nikon D7100 camera with the Nikon Nikkon DX AF-S 55-300mm 4.5-5.6 GED len on both days.  It was windy at beach, small craft warning, so I decided to try to get some good waves shots.  I used a low shutter speed under the pier to create a silky looks.  I think some them came out good.  You can decide.

The reason for coming to  beach was to capture the sunset,  Michele came with me this time, so she managed my dogs for me as shot away.

There were very little clouds in the sky on Sunday, and after going for a nice motorcycle trip, I decided to stay local for the sunset picture.  Will and Cathy, and Michele and I went on a motorcycle ride to Boiler Room Oyster Bar in Kinston for lunch.  I tried one of their bacon and egg cheese burger.  It was actually very good.  Mother Earth Brewing is around the corner from the Boiler Room.  Kinston is an economic depress community.  It is trying to have a come back, but it has a long way to go.  The median income for households in Kinston, North Carolina is $31,030, while the mean household income is $51,786, which low.  The town I live in New Bern, the median income for households is $41,970, while the mean household income is $55,218, but it rated as one of best place to live and retire.  And so here I am, retiring in New Bern with no regrets.
