Cold or Winter Moon

Which is it, a Cold Moon or a Winter Moon for the Full Moon in December?  In December’s Full Moon has earned the nickname of the Cold Moon.  “In Native American cultures which tracked the calendar by the moons, December’s full moon was known as the Full Cold Moon,”  It is called a Winter Moon, because it is went the night are longest and the day is the shortest day. On Friday, 21st of December, it was the Winter solstice for the Northern Hemisphere.  It was rainy and cloudy for most of Friday.  Saturday morning turn out to be clear and breezy.

The above picture was taken at 06:10:52 on Saturday morning.  I used the Nikon Nikkon 50mm f/1:18G len, and the tripod to capture the pictures.  I used a Shutter Speed of 10.0 seconds, an Aperture setting of f/1.8, and an ISO of 100.  Gale force winds were forecasted for the area. It was hard keeping the camera steady with the winds coming out of the North West at 20 plus knots.

Example: It was hard to keep the camera on the tripod. I used a Shutter Speed of 1/100, an Aperture setting of f/10, and an ISO of 100.  I also used the Nikon Nikkon DX AF-S 55-300mm 4.5-5.6 GED len  with zoomed at 300mm.

I was able to get some good pictures of the Moon setting in the North West sky,
