Harvest Moon and more

On September 24, there will be full moon (a Harvest Moon).  A Harvest Moon is a full Moon nearest the start of fall (autumnal equinox).

The above picture was taken on the 23 September at 19:59:17.  The Moon phase was at 98% Waxing Gibbous.  I used my Nikon D7100 camera with the Nikon Nikkon 70-300mm zoom lens.  The Shutter Speed was set to 1/200.  The  Aperture was set to  f/8, with the ISO set to 200.

The last two weeks were interesting.  Hurricane Florence came ashore on September 14 around 8 AM just south of Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina.  At one time it was listed as a Category 4 hurricane.  When it made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane.  It was slow moving hurricane.  We lost our power at 09:10 PM on the 13th of September, and did regain power until 1600 on Sunday the 16th of September.  Despite making landfall as a weakened Category 1 hurricane, Florence still had enough wind speed to uproot trees and cause widespread power outages throughout the Carolinas. A ridge of high pressure over eastern North America stalled Florence’s forward motion for several days while making landfall.  Florence was only  moving  at only 2–3 miles per hour.   Florence continually dumped heavy amount of rain on  coastal areas from September 13, when the outer rainbands first began to be felt, to September 15.  Florence dropped over 30 inches of rain in some places and effect will last for several weeks.  Lumberton and Kinston, North Carolina are flooded and parts of I-95 and U.S. Route 70 are closed.  The city that we live in New Bern was on the news, unfortunately without power we did not see the stories.  Our family and friend were checking in on us, which was very nice. I saw Air Force fly over Oriental, and POTUS visited Havelock and New Bern.  The Democrats will not give POTUS a break.  In the local paper (Sun Journal), there was article on President Trump visit and it was very negative.

It was nice to get out of the house on the 19th and take some sunset pictures.  Sunset on the 23rd of September was at 19:09. The following pictures were taken with my Nikon D7100 camera using the Nikon Nikkon 50mm f/1:18G lens.  The Shutter Speed was set to 1/320 or  1/160.  An  Aperture was set to f/9 and  f/10, with an ISO setting of 125.
