On Sunday, May 3, 2015, I was already up and walking about taking pictures on the moon set over Green Creek in Oriental, North Carolina (moon-set at 05:55 EDT). The sunrise was at 06:15 EDT.
I took a few pictures of the moon setting over Green Creek from the Robert Scott Bridge and from Oriental’s municipal park and boat ramp at the end of Midyette Street.
It was short walk from there to Lou Mac Park on the Neuse River to capture the sun rise at 06:15 EDT.
It was busy weekend in Oriental. The Oriental Marina & Inn slips and towns two municipal docks were full. I was up early walking the streets to capture the moon set. I started at the end of Whittaker Point Road at 04:45 EDT. Unfortunately the information I got from the Oriental’s town web page “http://www.towndock.net/” was wrong. They reported that the moon set would be at 05:28 EST, it was actually at 05:50. But they were also wrong the day before also. It stated that the moon rise would be at 18:36 EST, but in reality at it was more on 19:05 EDT. The sunrise pictures were taken from the intersection of Vandemere Street and South Avenue.
