Today August 4, 2013 is the U.S. Coast Guard 223rd Anniversary (Semper Paratus – Always Ready!). When I was in the U.S. Coast Guard as Boatswain’s Mate it meant something. Twenty Three years later it is still a special day for me. My son Raymond had to this weekend. My son Daniel was busy (he went tubbing down the Neuse River with friends). My wife Michele went to Dallas baby shower. So that left me and Ziva (the family little black dog) to find some thing to do.
For the first weekend in August for North Carolina, the weather is nice and cool. The average high for this time of year is 90. Today high will be near the mid 80’s and when we started our work it was on 77 degrees. Me and Ziva (little blackie) went hiking part of the Falls Lake trails. I haven’t been on the Bayleaf Church Road trail to Possum Tracks Road. It is 2.8 miles long and should be good hike and scenic one at that.
